Recording Policy

Version 1.0. Effective August 1, 2026.

Here is how recording works at Third Act Girls Club, in plain terms.

This is the shortest of our policies and probably the most important one. Women speak openly here, and that only works if you know exactly what is being captured and what is not. So we have written down the whole answer.

Club Conversations are never recorded

This is where we really talk, so you can speak freely. Nothing in a Club Conversation is recorded. Not the opening, not the main conversation, not the breakout rooms, not any part of it.

There is no exception to this, and there is no version of a Discussion that is recorded for later.

Expert Sessions record only the teaching

During an Expert Session, recording captures Lori and her slides. The teaching is the only part that may be recorded.

The room is set up so that the recording holds the host and her presentation, and members are muted while it runs. You are not in it.

Recording stops before you speak

Recording stops before members are invited to ask questions or talk, and the host confirms it has stopped before the conversation opens.

So your questions, the open conversation afterward, and the breakout rooms are never recorded. Neither is anything you type in the Zoom chat. If it involves you, it is not in the recording.

What we do not use

We do not turn on live transcription, automatic captions, or any Zoom feature that writes up or summarizes what was said. There is no transcript of a gathering and no automated summary of one.

You will always see a notice

When a gathering has a teaching portion that may be recorded, you will see a clear notice on that gathering before you save your place.

The notice is set automatically by the kind of gathering it is, so a Discussion always says it is never recorded and an Expert Session always says what is captured. Nobody types it in fresh each time, which means it cannot quietly say something different from what this policy promises.

Please do not record either

We ask members not to record any part of a gathering, in any form. That includes screen recording, audio recording, and photographing your screen.

We ask this of everyone and we cannot technically prevent it, which is honest rather than reassuring. It is the reason our Community Guidelines treat what women share here staying here as the rule that matters most, and it is why we keep our gatherings small and admit members personally.

What happens to a teaching recording

A recording of a teaching portion is kept by us in Zoom’s cloud storage, and access to it is limited to the people who run the community.

We may use it to share the teaching with members who could not attend, and to describe what Third Act Girls Club is to women who might join us. We would not use it in a way that suggests any member was in the room, because no member is in it.

We do not have a set deletion date for teaching recordings yet, so we keep them until we decide otherwise. If we set a retention period, we will update this policy and tell you. During the Pilot, a teaching recording is made and is not shared back to members through the app.

If something goes wrong

If you ever appear or are heard in a recording by accident, tell us at hello@thirdactgirlsclub.com. We will remove that part or delete the recording, and we will tell you what we did.

You do not need to explain why, and you will not be talked out of it.

Zoom

Our gatherings happen on Zoom, which is a service we use and do not own. Zoom collects its own information about your visit under its own privacy policy, such as your display name and connection details, and that part is between you and Zoom. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect.
